INTERVIEW “Lights” that are demanded of lamp development specialists.
Q.Can you share a memorable experience?
I still remember the time when I participated in the “visibility evaluation” of a lamp that I was in charge of developing from scratch. “Visibility evaluation” is a process of putting lamps on a test vehicle, driving a test course, and checking the performance of the lamp. We get to have a precious experience of driving vehicles that are yet to be released to the world and see the lamps that we created light up the dark. When I participated in that, I really felt that I was a part of automobile manufacturing.
Q.What will you like to try in the future?
I would like to become a designer who can work in a wide range of fields. Knowledge in various fields like the structure, optics, and electric circuit is required to develop lamps. I always consider what kind of light is needed in the world. Last year, I moved from Structural Design to Optic Design Department to acquire a wider range of knowledge so I can promptly answer our customers’ questions. Here, I’m given an opportunity to try various new things. Not only that, I’m also a father with two children, and I try to balance work and family. When my second child was born, I took paternity leave. When I came back to work, I took an advantage of a flexible working system to care for my children. By taking paternity leave, I was able to clearly differentiate work and family, and I felt a renewed sense of vigor to work more efficiently.
Q.Do you have any advice for people who are job searching?
A lamp is a small product, but it requires knowledge and understanding in a wide range of areas. If you want to be involved in manufacturing by going beyond your major and learn many things, please try KOITO Manufacturing.

Q.What kind of company is KOITO to you?

It’s a company where one can grow by utilizing a wide range of knowledge and skill and by introducing new products to the world.
