INTERVIEW Teamwork beyond department borders.
The challenge of developing a corporate system and improving work efficiency.
Q.Why did you choose KOITO Manufacturing?
For my work, I wanted to create something tangible, rather than choosing service industry that’s intangible. KOITO Manufacturing fit that profile. It had a strong capability in developing technologies as was evident in many of its products that were seen for the first time in Japan and in the world. Not only that, KOITO had a corporate policy that valued work-life balance which was evident in its high rate of employees taking their paid leave, maternity leave, and child care leave. I was impressed by those aspects of KOITO. I studied in the field of liberal arts, so I had a mixed emotion of nervousness and excitement when I was assigned to the System Department. But I received corporate education and warm support from people around me, and was able to study about system development from the basics. I took a year of maternity leave, and ever since I came back to work last year, I’ve been using the provision of having reduced work hours to accommodate childcare. Now, I proactively take up the challenge of developing corporate systems and improving work efficiency while balancing my homelife and work.
Q.Tell us what kind of work you do.
Information System Department promotes the use of approximately 500 systems development, system management, and various other systems that are used in our entire company to improve work efficiency. “System” encompasses a variety of tasks. It can involve anything from administrative tasks, like managing attendance and expenses, to controlling factory production and handling data that are provided to and from our customers. I’m in charge of developing and protecting a system that manages information for product development, and I promote the use of RPA (Robotic Process Automation), which can automatize computer tasks with set procedures, and support its expanded use in the entire company.
Q.When do you feel a sense of accomplishment from your work?
I oversee two different systems, and both are frequently used by various departments in our company. As a result, I get to work with many employees and get to know various types of work. I hold numerous meetings with people in different departments and positions to discuss and consider ways to improve our entire company’s business operation. It’s a lot of fun, and it gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Of course, it’s sometimes difficult to find ways to adapt an idea to specific system specifications, and it takes effort to come to agreement with different employees. However, I endeavor to be patient and persist in communicating and collaborating with relevant personnel.

Q.What kind of company is KOITO to you?

It’s a company that values teamwork where you can work along with different types of people. Because of what I do for work, I have an opportunity to work with people in various departments and positions. Everyone is passionate about what they do, and they all work to improve business operation and work efficiency by cooperating with one another.
