INTERVIEW Opening the way for the imminent EV society.
Passion for developing the next-generation optic system.
Q.Why did you choose KOITO Manufacturing?
When I was graduating university with a doctoral degree, I decided to transfer from the world of academics to the world of business. I chose KOITO Manufacturing for my career because of its business content. I had a great interest in optics and automobiles, so I felt that this company would allow me to continue my research of optics while allowing me to contribute to society through business. When the optic design that I researched is used to produce headlamps for vehicles and are commercialized, they’re seen directly by many people. There’s no greater sense of accomplishment than seeing that happen for researchers.
Q.Tell us what kind of work you do.
I’m in a Research Group in the Research and Development Department, and our main job is creating optic design for next-generation headlamps that are equipped with high functions. I’m in charge of developing headlamps equipped with various advanced functions, such as a new system for low beams/high beams and various ADB systems. While analyzing various trends and needs as a researcher that lead to the future of automotive industry, I’m going to continue leading a new type of optic research that can be used for headlamps.
Q.What will you like to try in the future?
I’m passionate about developing an extremely compact optic system with high efficiency and functionality in the future.
If we can create a smaller headlamp, it will be more efficient and will improve the aesthetics of a vehicle. Not only that, it will greatly contribute to reducing power consumption, heat, and battery’s charging cycle. This challenge will be the driving force in opening the way for the imminent new EV society.

Q.What kind of company is KOITO to you?

It’s a company that has both tradition and innovation. It values skills and experience that it has nurtured over its long history, and it’s a company where each employee actively tries to create techniques that respond to the needs of the time.
