INTERVIEW
Making KOITO a company that takes the future of our planet seriously.
- Q.Tell us what kind of work you do.
- I plan and develop programs for KOITO so it can contribute to the creation of a sustainable society through various business activities. The ultimate goal of my work is to develop a society that’s in harmony with the planet. So my main job involves the creation of plans that have deep ties to SDGs in business management, such as carbon neutrality and circular economy. I also consider plans that promote diversity, improve work-life balance, and support job satisfaction. I worked in the Personnel Department before coming to this department. So I use my previous experience to review employee benefits and personnel regulation from the view of sustainability and contribute to the creation of a comfortable work environment.
- Q.Can you share a memorable experience?
- When I was in the Personnel Department, KOITO was considered to be a B2B manufacturer. So students thought that there weren’t many female employees. As a result, we had to find ways to make people be aware of our successful female employees and our high achievement rate of maternity leave.
We planned and held career fair for female candidates and increased female recruiters. We actively communicated the appeal of KOITO, and as a result, we saw an increase in the number of female students who applied to KOITO. I still remember how happy I felt when I saw the activity that I planned had good results.
- Q.When do you feel a sense of accomplishment from your work?
- Tasks relating to sustainability are related to many areas, such as the environment, technology, quality, work environment, and human rights. They require various topics to be considered and examined, and it’s not something that one department can accomplish on its own. Additionally, many of the activities that my department plan and examine are things that KOITO is trying out for the first time. In the beginning, several departments were reluctant to participate in them. However, we tried to gain their understanding by sharing our goals and objectives. When we were able to successfully accomplish our tasks with everyone’s cooperation, I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment. I want to help all departments to think as one and assist KOITO to consider what we can do for our company, our employees, and our society with seriousness.
Q.What kind of company is KOITO to you?
It’s a company that allows young employees to have important tasks that create a sense of accomplishment. Some are difficult, but we don’t have to worry too much because our senior colleagues and boss support us well.
